At the Origins of Hériose
Hériose blends the Franco-Scottish heritage of its creator, Rémi Boinaud, with the art of French epicureanism, where indulgence and elegance define each single malt.
«In creating this French single malt, I sought to convey my passion for whisky and indulgence.
Inspired by my love for delicate pastries, I crafted a singular tasting experience.
Each aromatic note—vanilla, brioche, crème brûlée, honey, pear—resonates with this French finesse.
For me, Hériose embodies elegant indulgence, the result of expertise passed down through generations in the art of distillation, maturation, and blending.»
The Approach
Created in southwestern France by Maison Boinaud, Hériose is the result of family expertise passed down through generations.
With a strong commitment to sustainability, Maison Boinaud developed this French whisky to elevate the standards of French spirits and make its mark on the times.
The story of Hériose truly began in 2018 with the start of distillation, and the brand was officially launched in 2022.
This refined, pastry-style single malt stands out for its quality and distinctive flavor, a testament to expert mastery in distillation, maturation, and blending.
The texture and aromas of Hériose reveal a diverse range of expressions, where each fruity, herbal, or spiced note maintains the indulgent signature of this whisky.
The Distillery
At the heart of the region’s largest family-owned distillery, equipped with 41 pot stills, Hériose comes to life every spring.
Distilled in small traditional copper stills, Hériose undergoes a double distillation, which gives it its creamy texture and unmatched aromatic richness.
It is within this distillery that part of Hériose’s singularity is shaped.
This expertise, honed over generations in crafting exceptional spirits, is found in every bottle of Hériose, contributing to its unique signature.
The Crafting Process
At the origin of Hériose lies a rigorous selection of 100% French barley, marking the beginning of a meticulous process.
Once malting is complete, the mashing and fermentation stages are entrusted to our local partners. Hériose is then distilled twice in small traditional copper stills within our distillery.
Aging, the true cornerstone of our craftsmanship, is the next key stage.
Hériose matures for several years in first-fill bourbon casks, with slow and gradual dilution using local water, drawn from 280 meters beneath the distillery, throughout the process. This method preserves and enhances the singular flavors of this whisky.
In the tasting room, Rémi Boinaud and his committee carefully craft the blends, giving birth to Hériose whisky, which is bottled on site.
